Who are we?

DVassist is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation that provides free, accessible, and confidential specialist support for individuals affected by family and domestic violence in regional, rural, and remote communities in Western Australia. Since 2017, we have been dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by people living in these areas who are impacted by family and domestic violence.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their location, can access the information, resources, and services they need to live free from violence. Understanding the specific barriers of isolation, limited services, and privacy concerns in regional, rural, and remote areas, we tailor our services to meet these needs with compassion, expertise, and a community-led approach.

What do we do?

DVassist offers a diverse range of services focused on recovery, healing, prevention, and community capacity-building. These services include free online recovery and healing counselling and webchat, brief case management, online support groups, recovery and healing retreats, community development, and primary prevention initiatives.

Through our trauma-informed, culturally safe, and community-led approach, we are dedicated to promoting long-term recovery, enhancing local capacity, and empowering communities to effect lasting change.

We also provide professional development and training for service providers, supporting those who work with individuals impacted by family and domestic violence in accessing practical, evidence-based learning tailored to regional, rural, and remote contexts.

DVassist operates across 58 regional, rural, and remote Western Australia shires, providing both online and in-person services. The availability of these services may vary depending on the funding received to support them.
