Who is this course for?

The course is available to anyone wanting to understand what family and domestic violence is, how it impacts people and how to provide a supportive response. It provides learners with a basic understanding of family and domestic violence and is a pre-requisite for DVassist specialist family and domestic violence courses.

Learning outcomes

  • After completing this short course participants will be able to:
  • Define what is family and domestic violence, its prevalence and gendered nature
  • Outline the impacts on victim-survivors and groups more vulnerable to family and domestic violence
  • Identify people who may be experiencing family and domestic violence
  • Respond appropriately to people impacted by family and domestic violence and refer to them to specialist support
