Who is this course for?

Family and domestic violence (FDV) practitioners, professionals, and frontline staff who support adult victim-survivors of FDV or workers whose responsibility is to assess risk and provide safety planning support.

It outlines the key aspects of FDV risk assessment and safety planning, applying the Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework (CRARMF). It provides an overview of risk assessment and management approaches, risk factors, information sharing and the integrated response system to FDV. Participants will learn how to conduct trauma-informed safety planning by working collaboratively with the victim-survivor to address short and long-term safety requirements.

Learning outcomes

After completing this short course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the components that form a risk assessment framework
  • Define key approaches to FDV risk assessment
  • Identify high-risk factors for FDV Implement risk assessment and management in practice
  • Conduct trauma-informed safety planning with victim-survivors of FDV (including children)

Duration

This online course, including the activity workbook, will take you approximately 2 and 1/2 hours to complete. The workbook contains sixteen activities.

The training contains two videos. Video One discusses risk assessment and management and Video Two outlines safety planning.

You can complete the online course in one sitting or at intervals when convenient. You have unlimited access.
