Risk Management and Safety Planning

This three-hour training workshop outlines the key aspects of family and domestic violence (FDV) risk assessment and safety planning, applying the Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework (CRARMF). It provides an overview of risk assessment and management approaches, risk factors, information sharing and the integrated response system to FDV. Participants will learn how to conduct trauma-informed safety planning by working collaboratively with the victim-survivor to address short and long-term safety requirements.

Learning outcomes:

  • Describe the components that form a risk management framework
  • Define key approaches to FDV risk assessment
  • Identify high-risk factors for FDV
  • Implement risk assessment and management in practice
  • Conduct trauma-informed safety planning with victim-survivors of FDV (including children)
  • Document risk and safety

The workshop is for:
FDV practitioners, professionals, and frontline staff who support adult victim-survivors of FDV or workers whose responsibility is to assess risk and provide safety planning support.
