Understanding The Help-Seeking Decisions Of Women Experiencing Family And Domestic Violence In Regional, Rural And Remote Communities

November 19 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

This 2-hour workshop explores the help-seeking decisions of women experiencing FDV and their barriers to support services. Many victim-survivors experiencing FDV do not seek formal support, therefore, they do not receive assistance or have access to interventions that enable them to be safe. It is important that practitioners understand the complex nature of victim-survivor responses to FDV to address their needs, enhance their safety, and enable them to live free from violence.

Learning outcomes:

  • Identify the various forms of help-seeking
  • Recognise barriers and enablers to help-seeking, focusing on regional, rural and remote communities
  • Improve service responses to support victim-survivors

The workshop is for:
Frontline staff, primary responders and services working with victim-survivors experiencing FDV and their families.
