Yaandina Community Services – Turner River Rehabilitation Centre

Yaandina’s Turner River Rehabilitation Centre is a 24 bed facility that uses the Therapeutic Community (TC) model for treatment and addiction recovery that includes mental and physical healing.
 
This centre provides a facility in the Pilbara that allows individuals who have successfully completed a detoxification process from drugs and/or alcohol to recover from their addictions. Turner River is certified against the Standards for Therapeutic Communities in a Residential Care setting and also certified against the Standards for Culturally Secure practice.
 
Individuals may refer themselves directly for admission to Turner River, or be referred by one the following:
• GP
• Case worker
• Drug & alcohol agency
• Community Services agency
• Department of Communities
• Mental Health
• Corrections
• Family member

REFAP

REFAP was established to help more Aboriginal people gain skilled, long-term employment in Pilbara workplaces. REFAP is the operator of the Community Development Program (CDP): Under the CDP, future employees and employers benefit from a range of innovative and effective free services that give them the resources and guidance they need to succeed, such as:

  • support programs
  • education & training
  • community support
  • connecting job seekers in the Karratha region
  • workplace mentoring
  • hosted work placement
  • employer incentive scheme

Mawarnkarra Health Service

Medical Services.
An independent 777 Pharmacy is also located at their Clinic that can dispense prescription medicines to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander patients and healthcare card holders. Mawarnkarra also provides outreach programs to remote communities, and health focused education and community events.
Mawarnkarra also offers Telehealth Services so you don’t always need to leave country to access specialists or to support your family.

Aboriginal Family Legal Services

Aboriginal Family Law Service assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people live free from family violence and sexual assault. We not only offer free legal services, but community education and early intervention and prevention programs as well.
