The service primarily provides support, advocacy and information to individuals, families and groups within the township of Meekatharra.
The Alcohol and Other Drug Outreach Service supports adults and their families, who are experiencing (or at risk of) issues associated with their alcohol and other drug use. The service provides case management and treatment interventions to the communities of Meekatharra, Mt Magnet and Cue in order to reduce harm and support change behaviour before the use of alcohol and other drugs becomes entrenched or problematic. The service is culturally safe and also offers counselling, group work, and community education and awareness support.
In addition to our core service offering of free face-to-face
counselling, we engage with communities to educate and build awareness
about youth mental health issues and suicide prevention. As part of this
engagement, we deliver education programs in schools and communities
across Western Australia.
The Mental Health Support Service in Meekatharra provides mental health coordination services to Aboriginal families living in Meekatharra, & via outreach to Cue and Mount Magnet. The service is a point of contact and advocacy for people living with mental ill health. Through a recovery framework emphasising self-determination and choice, participants are supported through support to attend appointments, individual counselling and group work, and community connection.
