Silver Chain Health Service remote area nurses have a wealth of experience and provide services including: General health assessments; Chronic disease management; Advanced treatment for illness and injuries; Emergency response in life threatening situations; Health promotion and co-ordination of public health care. The service works closely with the Royal Flying Doctor Service and St John’s Ambulance for emergency response and transfer, and co-ordinate visits from general practitioners (GPs) and health specialists to ensure that communities receive ongoing health care services. The WA Poisons Information Centre (WAPIC) is an emergency phone service to the states of Western Australia and South Australia and the Northern Territory providing management advice in cases of suspected poisoning and known poisonings. Advice is also provided on drug information and poisoning prevention.
