Wiluna Town Bush Fire Brigade

The Wiluna Town Bush Fire Brigade is the only fire and emergency within the Shire of Wiluna. Their volunteers are diverse and come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.

NAHS provides services in ways determined by the local community that best suit their requirements, and in a culturally secure way and setting. Upon engagement at NAHS, all new non-indigenous staff receive cultural sensitivity training from local Aboriginal elders. In alignment with Aboriginal culture, NAHS provides a holistic approach to its health care delivery. Their services include:

Ngangganawili Aboriginal Health Service – The Substance Misuse Scheme

Delivers a non-residential trauma-informed service that is culturally responsive and safe, with prioritised placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their families and communities. They provide a flexible model of care that allows for outreach, drop-in support and care on Country for individuals, families and community groups.
They accept referrals by any individual, family member, agency or organisation that requires a Social and Emotional Wellbeing related support in the region. It is their priority to support the community to have access to a high standard of care that fits with Wiluna Martu Services and projects are also co-designed, which involves ongoing consultation, collaboration and two-way

The Certificate I in New Opportunities for Women (NOW) is a general education program at TAFE that is intended to provide women with the knowledge, skills and support they require to explore future options regarding entering or re-entering the workforce, vocational training and further education.

Midwest Alcohol and Drug Services

Based in Geraldton, Midwest Community Alcohol and Drug Services provides a fortnightly outreach service to Kalbarri, Dongara, Northampton, Mullewa, Morawa, Three Springs and Eneabba.

Once a month the team also travels to Yalgoo, Cue, Mt Magnet, Meekatharra and Wiluna.

Midwest Mental Health and Community Alcohol and Drug Service

The Midwest Mental Health and Community Alcohol and Drug Service provides assessment, treatment and advice to people with moderate to severe mental health and/or drug and alcohol issues. They also support carers, other local health services and other agencies that work with people experiencing mental health and/or drug and alcohol issues in various ways such:

  • Needle exchanges;
  • Individual and group counselling;
  • Referrals to detox and rehabilitation services;
  • Intervention programs;
  • Drug and alcohol education and awareness programs in the community

Aboriginal Family Legal Service assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people live free from family violence and sexual assault. We not only offer free legal services, but community education and early intervention and prevention programs as well.
