Share and Care Community Services – Family and Domestic Violence Child Support

A trained child support worker is on site and will relieve the parent of care if she needs to attend appointments.

The support may include outings with the parents’ permission, liaison with schools for enrolments, play therapy, referrals for mother and or child to a host of other agencies that may assist with the variety of needs the consumer presents with.

These services cover the Wheatbelt and Upper Great Southern, and based in Northam and Narrogin.

Department for Child Protection and Family Support Northam

The Department provides a range of child safety and family support services to Western Australian individuals, children and their families. Contact them for assistance to access emergency accommodation.

Share and Care Community Service – Family Assistance Program

This program offers assistance to families who are the recipients of a current health care card who are in crisis with:

  • Assistance to families experiencing difficulty with back to school clothing, books or fee costs.
  • Assistance for families who are at risk of disconnection from essential service supply
  • Assistance to families for assistance with food and/or travel by either voucher or referral to other service outlets.
  • Assistance or referral to other services for clothing or bedding for families in crisis.

This service covers the Wheatbelt.

State and National Family Services

1800RESPECT

1800RESPECT is a national sexual assualt and domestic violence counselling service.

1800RESPECT provide support and counselling for:

  • People experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, sexual assault, domestic or family violence
  • Their friends and family
  • Workers and professionals supporting someone experiencing, or at risk of experiencing sexual assault, domestic or family violence.

They can be contacted by phone or online chat, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Online Restraining Order Application

The online restraining order application service has been introduced to make it possible for people seeking the protection of a restraining order to lodge their application without having to attend a court registry. You can visit or phone a registered organisation and they will be able to help you lodge the application.

If an urgent order is required and it is not possible to make an application to the court (for example, it is outside of business hours or you are in a remote location), WA police can issue 72 hour police orders. Please contact WA Police on 131 444 or 000 for emergencies.

DVassist Telephone Counselling Service

The DVassist counselling service is available Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 7 pm, via free call 1800 080 083 to anyone living in remote, regional, and rural Western Australia. We provide information and support for women, men and young people living in remote, regional, and rural Western Australia experiencing family and domestic violence.
