Desert Blue Connect

Desert Blue Connect provides services that include health, family violence response, primary prevention and crisis accommodation for women and children.

Desert Blue Connect – Chrysalis House

Chrysalis House Women’s Refuge provides safe and supported accommodation for women with or without children who are escaping family violence or are at risk of being homeless as a result of the crisis.

Services include:

  • Safe, secure crisis accommodation for up to three weeks
  • Development of safety plans
  • Practical and emotional assistance and support
  • Outreach support services
  • Information and advocacy
  • Referrals to other agencies
  • Links to housing, income, legal and medical services
Chrysalis House also provides services for children. A child support worker works with children to reduce the harmful effects of family violence, including the availability of crèche services. Chrysalis House can accommodate children and youth up to the age of 18 years with appropriate recreation activities available.

Bandat Horizon House

Bandat Horizon House provides stability and support for young people aged 16 to 22 years old to help them set and achieve their goals and independence. Their clients must be:
  • Homeless or at serious risk of homelessness
  • Aged 16 to 22 years old
  • Willing to work towards receiving a wage or obtaining Centrelink payments
  • Willing to contribute towards their share of rent and utilities – the cost of rent is means tested dependent on income to ensure affordability for all residents
  • Willing to participate in daily activities as agreed in their individual support, such as school, voluntary work, courses and counselling
  • Prepared to abide by the no-smoking rule
  • No current significant issues with alcohol and/or substance abuse.

STAY provides safe, secure and affordable accommodation which includes:

  • Linking into education

STAY is a crisis service for young people who are aged between 15-25 years who may be experiencing:
  • A personal crisis
  • Family conflict
  • Financial difficulties
  • Homeless

The Salvation Army – Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Crisis Accommodation Service

At Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Crisis Accommodation we provide crisis accommodation and support for 15-24 year olds, including: 
• Emergency, overnight and short-term supported accommodation for up to 3 months
• Regular and ongoing support to young people and families
• An opportunity to learn independent living skills and self-development
• A safe environment that fosters personal growth
• Information and referral service to young people and their families

Local Support Coordinator

The Local Support Coordinator provides co-ordinated response and proactive outreach to women experiencing family violence in the Murchison region for a period of up to 18 months. Assistance for people in Carnarvon is available during 6 weekly visits to homes for issues including:

  • Risk assessment and safety planning;
  • Safety audits;
  • Applying for a family violence restraining order;
  • Court support;
  • Referrals to housing, financial, legal or other organisations.

CFSS WA – Sobering Up Centre

The Centre provides a safe, care-oriented environment in which persons found intoxicated in public may sober up, therefore diverting them from police lock-ups and reducing the likelihood of them causing further harm to themselves or others in the community.

The Community Information and Referral Centre provides clients seeking assistance with financial counselling, emergency relief, family law, housing and associated problems.

Emergency Relief – CFSS WA LTD

This service provides emergency relief for food, accommodation, fuel, transport etc. CFSS also assists people in applying for government housing and provide letters of support for clients at risk of homelessness or living with relatives in overcrowded situations.

CFSS – Public Tenancy Support Service

Public Tenancy Support Service aims to assist Dept of Housing tenants at risk of eviction to avoid becoming homeless. The support worker visits tenants in their homes on a regular basis to help sustain their tenancies through tenancy support, advocacy and case management. Participation in the program is with the tenants’ consent, but sometimes becomes a condition of the tenancy where there has been a prior tenancy agreement with issues including debts, property standards in breach of the tenancy agreement and anti-social behaviour.
