The Rest – Bed and Breakfast

The Rest: Bed and Breakfast is a 5 minute walk to the main local shopping precinct. Facilities include:

The Wheatland Motel – Dalwallinu

The Wheatland Motel offers 25 spacious, ensuite rooms including single, double, twin and family suites. Each room has tea/coffee making facilities, TV and aircon. Free WiFi is available. The also have a laundry and cleaning service.

Sun City Christian Centre

Providing a Christ Centred Association for the relief of poverty, suffering, distress, misfortune and helplessness of people, regardless of age, sex, race, ethnic background, religion, political beliefs or marital status.
 
They provide:
• Food, clothing, furniture and household items distribution
• Accommodation
• Rehabilitation facilities
• Other social welfare services including training programs, life skills courses for people at risk and financial training, e.g. budgets.

St John of God – Horizon House

Horizon House provides long term accommodation and support if you are currently experiencing or are at serious risk of homelessness so you can access education, training and employment opportunities.  
 
Services Provided:
• Stable accommodation
• Counselling and support
• Supported links to specialist appointments
• Individualised case management 
• A life skills program
Eligibillity:
• Homeless or at serious risk of homelessness
• Aged 16 to 22 years old
•  Willing to work towards receiving a wage or obtaining Centrelink payments
• Willing to contribute towards their share of rent and utilities
• Willing to participate in daily activities as agreed in their individual support plan for example school, work (voluntary), courses and counselling
• Prepared to abide by the no smoking rule
• No current significant issues with alcohol and/or substance abuse.

Southern Cross Caravan Park

The caravan park is located on the main road of town and also includes the Sandalwood Motor Lodge. The park has a drive-through powered sites, tent sites, two ablution blocks, campers’ kitchen and a recreation room. Dogs are allowed in the park, conditions apply. Facilities include:

  • coin operated laundromat
  • free barbecue
  • tv room
  • eftpos and tourist information.

Southern Cross Motel

Located in the northern part of the Southern Cross, opposite the Police Station. All rooms have ensuite, air-conditioning, TV, fridge, tea/coffee facilities and toaster. 28 rooms comprising of a combination of double and twin share and family rooms, sleeping up to 5 people.

Share and Care Community Services – The Men’s Lodge

The Lodge is designed to provide safe secure accommodation to Homeless men from age 18+. Men accommodated in the Lodge can expect to receive assistance with a range of services including:

  • Employment opportunities,
  • Mentoring,
  • Referrals to agencies such as Drug & Alcohol,
  • Centrelink,
  • Financial Counselling,
  • Department of Housing and assistance with immediate needs such as food, housing, medical, clothing etc.

Referrals from DCP, other agencies and self referrals accepted.

Share and Care Community Services – Hope Cottage

This program is designed to assist large families who are homeless.

The program works with the client base towards obtaining and maintaining housing into the future.

Whilst in Hope Cottage, families are offered education, information and support.

 
Share and Care provide services to the Wheatbelt.

This program is designed to assist women and children who are homeless.

The program works with the client base towards obtaining and maintaining housing into the future.

Whilst in Jacaranda House, based in Northam, women are offered education, information and support.

This service covers the Wheatbelt.

Share and Care Community Services – Homeless Support Service

This service is designed to assist those that are threatened with losing their homes due to financial difficulties, those who are homeless and need support to obtain and maintain long term housing and those who are finding it challenging to remain in one home for any extended amount of time.
 
This service networks closely with the Department of Housing, Emergency Relief services and Financial Counsellors, Supported Housing services through Avon Youth, our Men’s Lodge and other local agencies.

This service covers the Wheatbelt.
