Who is this course for?
This course is for practitioners, professionals, frontline staff or other workers who support victim-survivors of family, domestic and sexual violence or who support people with experiences of psychological trauma.
It provides basic knowledge of trauma and assists participants in understanding the various ways in which trauma can impact victim-survivors of FDV. It includes information on traumatic reactions and common trauma responses and shares core concepts and best practices in responding to victim-survivors who have experienced trauma.
Learning outcomes
After completing this short course participants will be able to:
- Describe the types, dynamics and impacts of trauma for FDV victim-survivors
- Identify common trauma responses in victim-survivors and respond to minimise further traumatisation
- Respond to victim-survivors who have experienced trauma using trauma-informed best practice
Duration
This online course will take you approximately 2 hours to complete including the activity workbook. There are eleven activities to complete in the workbook.
The training contains two videos. Part A – Understanding trauma and Part B – Responding to trauma victim-survivors.
You can complete the online course in one sitting or at intervals when it is convenient for you. You have unlimited access.
