Sussex Street Community Law Service Inc provides a NSDS Accredited advocacy services to people with disabilities, their family members and carers.
It is an independent free and confidential service to people in the regional areas of the Mid West, Goldfields/Esperance and the Great Southern areas of Western Australia.

The Great Southern Community Alcohol and Drug Service (GSCADS) team supports communities across the vast region from Walpole to Bremer Bay, and north to Kojonup, Katanning and Lake Grace as well as many places in between.

Our services are free, confidential and everyone is welcome.

Anglicare WA Albany – Counselling

Counselling is offered by trained professionals who can assist with a wide variety of issues. Counselling can be provided to individuals, couples or families. Counselling is available at Anglicare sites across WA. They also offer telephone counselling for people who cannot attend in person, including those who live in rural or remote regions.

Albany Women’s Centre – Anglicare WA

Albany Women’s Centre offers women, with or without children, affected by family and domestic violence a safe refuge and support services. There is a mobile Outreach Initiative which services Albany, Denmark and Mount Barker.

Albany Community Mental Health

WACHS Great Southern Mental Health Service (GSMHS) is a specialist service that provides acute mental health care for inpatient and community clients in the Great Southern region.

The community teams are located in Albany and Katanning and consist of triage, adult, older adult, youth, child and adolescent teams, all staffed by mental health professionals.

GSMHS employs Aboriginal mental health workers who assist the clinical team to provide culturally appropriate treatment.

Referrals are accepted from GPs and other health professionals. If urgent, clients may phone or self-present to Community Mental Health within office hours.

Albany Halfway House Association support people living with a mental illness through supported short – medium term accommodation and outreach support in your home.

Albany Halfway House Association provides:

Recovery Program

  • A recovery coach can work on recovery goals

Community Supported Residential Units (CSRU) provide:

  • Single or Double units (double units have own ensuite bathroom)
  • Recovery coaches support with activities of daily living such as: housekeeping, budgeting, cooking, attending activities
  • Help with bill paying, shopping, social outings, attending appointments.
  • Linking in with GP’s, counsellors, employment services and more

Outreach Support:

  • Outreach Recovery Coaches visit you in your home or in the community to provide advocacy, support and assistance with your daily life and recovery goals.
  • Your GP, psychologist or other clinicians can refer you to Albany Halfway House Association.

Albany Community Legal Centre

The Albany Community Legal Centre Inc is an independent, non-profit community based legal service, contracted by the Federal Government to deliver community legal services to the Lower Great Southern region of Western Australia.

One-off, free, confidential legal assistance is available to any person in the Great Southern region. Ongoing assistance is provided on a needs assessed basis.
