We are grateful for the financial support we receive via donations, which allows us to continue helping those in regional, rural and remote Western Australia experiencing domestic or family violence.
All donations to DVassist are committed to bringing an end to family domestic violence in regional, rural and remote areas of WA. Initially, funds donated have assisted in expanding the online directory service, to provide a fast and efficient online tool for anyone experiencing domestic or family violence who needs to find help. What is unique about this online directory is its ability to tailor the resources available to victims of domestic and family violence, to the local area.
The online directory is functioning across 16 key areas and we are progressing to have all regional areas in WA covered. Then it will need ongoing maintenance and updates.
DVassist’s next priority was the creation of a call centre to provide telephone counselling for those involved in family or domestic violence situations. This service is operational and offers people the opportunity to have confidential, tailored discussions with informed, qualified and helpful counsellors who are trained to help in these situations, and who are familiar with the additional challenges of living in regional, rural and remote areas. In March 2021, this service extended it’s support hours to 10am to 10pm, weekdays and call volumes keep growing.
In April 2021, our live online web chat function became available through our website. This third avenue of support gives even greater flexibility to those in need around how they connect with networks that can assist them in making the changes to improve their family or domestic violence situation.
DVassist operates with a very small administration team to ensure that the majority of the funds received by the organisation are dedicated to delivering real change through effective support and connection.
