Pilbara Community Legal – Keeping Women Safe Program

Keeping women safe program (KWS) is an early intervention and prevention strategy aimed to help women and their children from becoming homeless and improve safety following family and domestic violence (FDV). The program helps women to stay in their home or a home of their choosing, when it is safe an appropriate to do so.

KWS assesses the safety and support needs of women and children through risk assessments, safety planning, home security audits and upgrades, and case management. In accordance with the multi-agency FDV approach, the PCLS Domestic Violence and KWS service work closely with the WA Police and Department of Child Protection and Family Support to reduce or manage the risk posed by the perpetrator and ensure women receive a coordinated response.
