YMCA – Aspire

A free health, lifestyle and engagement program for 13 – 17 year old girls, which addresses key issues girls in that age bracket encounter in daily life (e.g. body image issues, nutrition, peer pressure etc). At the end of this program they do a ‘Heal Pamper Workshop’ where we get a whole range of providers come through and volunteer their time to do the girls’ nails, beauty, massage, hair – the whole works! It’s a celebration day for young girls as well as a chance to gain access to providers in the local community and assisting with obtaining new networking and support options

Goldfields Rehabilitation Services Inc – Sexual Assault Counselling Support Services

Sexual violence can have a lasting impact on a person’s life. It can affect relationships and can impact on a person’s sense of self- worth. SACSS Goldfields provides counselling to anybody 13 years of age and over who has been sexually assaulted or sexually abused.All SACSS Goldfields services are free and confidential and include:

  • 24 hour crisis intervention for people who have been sexually assaulted within the last 10 days.
  • Counselling and support for anyone who has experienced sexual assault or sexual abuse
  • Up to date information about sexual assault and sexual abuse and
  • Promotional material to improve community awareness of sexual assault and abuse
  • This service is available for women and men who have experienced sexual violence

Anglicare WA – Kalgoorlie Accommodation Support Service

The Kalgoorlie Accommodation Support Service provides access to Department of Housing accommodation for a period of 12 months to women with or without children, who are homeless or escaping family domestic violence. The service is for single women, with or without children, who are victims of domestic violence and, as a result, are either homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness. People who use this service must be a permanent resident of Australia.

An Anglicare WA housing support worker will visit regularly and have phone contact with residents to develop a support plan with them with the aim of getting into long term housing. This includes assistance in gaining referrals to useful organisations, financials strategies and education and training opportunities.

Women’s Legal Service WA

The Women’s Legal Service WA is a free community legal centre providing legal advice, support and advocacy to WA women experiencing disadvantage. They can assist women with:

  • Family law (parenting related matters, divorce and some property settlement matters through their Legal Clinic)
  • Family violence (identifying and responding to family violence and restraining order matters)
  • Protection and care (matters involving the Department of Communities Child Protection and Family Support Division)
  • Criminal injuries compensation (where it relates to family violence, assault or sexual assault).

1800RESPECT is a national sexual assualt and domestic violence counselling service.

1800RESPECT provide support and counselling for:

  • People experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, sexual assault, domestic or family violence
  • Their friends and family
  • Workers and professionals supporting someone experiencing, or at risk of experiencing sexual assault, domestic or family violence.

They can be contacted by phone or online chat, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

WESNET – Safe Connections

The Safe Connections program provides tech-abuse advice to women who are experiencing technology-facilitated abuse as well as being able to provide women (and children) affected by domestic, family or sexual violence with a free Safe Connections phones and top-up credit (eligible clients can top-up 3 times in the financial year).

They also provide tech-abuse advice where they can organise appointments with one of our tech experts.

QLife provides Australia-wide anonymous, LGBTI peer support and referral for people wanting to talk about a range of issues including sexuality, identity, gender, bodies, feelings or relationships.

QLife services are free and include both telephone and webchat support, delivered by trained LGBTI community members across the country. Services are for LGBTI individuals, their friends and families, and health professionals in Australia.
