This free support group service provides an envrionment in which carers of people with dementia can discuss issues with people in similar circumstances in a safe and supportive environment.

Wheatbelt Mental Health Services

Wheatbelt Mental Health Service provides free, confidential, quality, community mental health care to people of all ages in the Coastal and Wheatbelt communities. The Wheatbelt Mental Health Service is a team of mental health professionals including a consultant psychiatrist, clinical psychologists, social workers, child and adolescent professionals and community mental health nurses.
Locally based, multi-disciplinary teams are located in Northam, Gingin, Merredin and Narrogin. Regular visits are made to outlying areas within the region to meet community needs. Outreach is supported by telephone consultation and videoconferencing. Clinical liaison is provided to hospitals within the region. Clinical programs include:
  • Aboriginal Mental Health Program (all ages)
  • Adult Mental Health Program (18-65 years)
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program (0-18 years)
  • Seniors Mental Health Program (65+ years)
  • Youth Mental Health Program (15-24 years)

Elder Abuse Helpline advocates on behalf of older people who are experiencing abuse. They provide information, organises access to suitable resources and support services and works with their clients to resolve their situation.

My Aged Care is a Government service and acts as the starting point to access Government-funded aged care services. The phoneline and website can help older Australians, their families and carers gain the help and support they need.

Legal Aid WA – Senior Rights and Advocacy Service

The Senior Rights and Advocacy Service is a specialist legal advice and assistance service, as a division of Legal Aid WA.
Services offered include: 
• Legal advice and assistance in areas such as elder abuse, planning for the future, guardianship and administration, and issues involving grandchildren 
• representation in certain guardianship and administration matter with State Administrative Tribunal 
• Mediation and dispute resolution
• information and community legal education 
• Referrals to community and government agencies
