Wheatbelt Mental Health Services

Wheatbelt Mental Health Service provides free, confidential, quality, community mental health care to people of all ages in the Coastal and Wheatbelt communities. The Wheatbelt Mental Health Service is a team of mental health professionals including a consultant psychiatrist, clinical psychologists, social workers, child and adolescent professionals and community mental health nurses.
Locally based, multi-disciplinary teams are located in Northam, Gingin, Merredin and Narrogin. Regular visits are made to outlying areas within the region to meet community needs. Outreach is supported by telephone consultation and videoconferencing. Clinical liaison is provided to hospitals within the region. Clinical programs include:
  • Aboriginal Mental Health Program (all ages)
  • Adult Mental Health Program (18-65 years)
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program (0-18 years)
  • Seniors Mental Health Program (65+ years)
  • Youth Mental Health Program (15-24 years)

St John Ambulance is responsible for receiving all State-wide emergency triple zero (000) calls requiring ambulance attendance.

Holyoake Wheatbelt Outreach Locations

Holyoake operates the Wheatbelt Community Alcohol and Drug Service (WCADS). Holyoake provide an outreach service. Holyoake offer counselling and support to people who may be experiencing problems with their own or someone else’s substance use. Individual counselling is available along with specially designed programs to assist individuals and their families to cope with the consequences of alcohol and other drug use. They provides specialised counselling and support for individuals, significant others, families and youth.

Avon Community Services – Youth Services

ACS deliver two programs throughout the Wheatbelt that are aimed at young people who are At Risk. The programs focus on the education of young people about the Effects of Drugs, Alcohol & Tobacco, Social & Emotional Well-being, Sexual Education & Connection to Country & Community. ACS also offer a mentoring service for young people, delivered in a Case Management Model that offers low level support for young people needing some guidance. Avon Community Services deliver Housing Services throughout the Wheatbelt in both supported and unsupported accommodation. ACS also provide supported accommodation to young people aged 15 – 25.
Outreach services offered in Moora, Merredin and Narrogin.
