Goldfields-Esperance Domestic Violence Police Units

The DV Police Unit supports people experiencing family violence, a behaviour which results in physical, sexual and/or psychological damage, forced social isolation, economic deprivation, or behaviour which causes the victim(s) to live in fear.

Esperance Care Services – Regener8

The ReJener8 course is designed to assist women to identify their strengths and skills, to build self-confidence and provide support for their first steps of connecting into the community, and to ultimately achieving their goals. The aim of this course is to provide encouragement and skills for women who are looking to re-enter the work force or take up volunteering or study opportunities, but are lacking the confidence and knowledge to take even the first step to reaching their goals.

Esperance Crisis Accommodation Service – Mara House

The ECAS Women’s Safe House offers support to women and children (male under 17 years of age) escaping Family and Domestic Violence and experiencing homelessness through Domestic Violence. At the refuge staff will assist you with information to help you decide about housing, legal and income issues. You will be supplied with bedding and food, clothing and toiletries if needed. Support, referrals, advocacy and information to those using the service. They can refer you to other services like a counsellor to discuss your feelings and choices at this time.   Safe at Home Service: For some families, staying in their home and having the violent person leave is the best option. Staff can provide support for women staying at their homes. The staff can help you assess your risk and support you with safety plans and increased practical safety measures. The staff will provide regular outreach assistance and support while you rebuild a safe life for yourself and your children.   Each woman has a key worker who can help with the following:

  • Safety planning
  • Building self-confidence and independence
  • Advice on housing rights and responsibilities
  • Legal Support
  • Accompanying to court
  • Refer you to Financial Counselor, who can help with budgeting, paying bills and debts
  • Resettlement skills, such as shopping and cooking
  • Referrals to other relevant agencies

Escare Girls Group

The Young Women’s Group has been established. This group of 10-12 young indigenous and non-indigenous women meet on a fortnightly basis.
This group offers an opportunity to discuss any issue or concerns in a safe non-judgemental environment. They have the opportunity to be engaged with the Youth Worker and their peers whilst linking them in with appropriate services and providing relevant and up to date information on any issues they’re experiencing. Many activities are focused on increasing self-esteem, confidence and life skills. Activities include cooking, sewing, participating in community art activities and events.

1800RESPECT

1800RESPECT is a national sexual assualt and domestic violence counselling service.

1800RESPECT provide support and counselling for:

  • People experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, sexual assault, domestic or family violence
  • Their friends and family
  • Workers and professionals supporting someone experiencing, or at risk of experiencing sexual assault, domestic or family violence.

They can be contacted by phone or online chat, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Women’s Domestic Violence Helpline

The Women’s Domestic Violence Helpline is a state wide 24 hour service. This service provides support and counselling for women experiencing family and domestic violence. This includes:

  • Phone counselling
  • Information and advice
  • Referral to local advocacy, support services, and safe accommodation if required
  • Support in escaping situations of family and domestic violence

Qlife

QLife provides Australia-wide anonymous, LGBTI peer support and referral for people wanting to talk about a range of issues including sexuality, identity, gender, bodies, feelings or relationships.

QLife services are free and include both telephone and webchat support, delivered by trained LGBTI community members across the country. Services are for LGBTI individuals, their friends and families, and health professionals in Australia.

Women’s Legal Service WA

The Women’s Legal Service WA is a free community legal centre providing legal advice, support and advocacy to WA women experiencing disadvantage. They can assist women with:

  • Family law (parenting related matters, divorce and some property settlement matters through their Legal Clinic)
  • Family violence (identifying and responding to family violence and restraining order matters)
  • Protection and care (matters involving the Department of Communities Child Protection and Family Support Division)
  • Criminal injuries compensation (where it relates to family violence, assault or sexual assault).

WESNET – Safe Connections

The Safe Connections program provides tech-abuse advice to women who are experiencing technology-facilitated abuse as well as being able to provide women (and children) affected by domestic, family or sexual violence with a free Safe Connections phones and top-up credit (eligible clients can top-up 3 times in the financial year).

They also provide tech-abuse advice where they can organise appointments with one of our tech experts.

DVassist Telephone Counselling Service

The DVassist counselling service is available Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 7 pm, via free call 1800 080 083 to anyone living in remote, regional, and rural Western Australia. We provide information and support for women, men and young people living in remote, regional, and rural Western Australia experiencing family and domestic violence.
