Below is a list of youth support services, including youth mental health and counselling, youth education services, youth support groups, youth mentoring services and youth contact services. Boab Health – Youth Counselling Program

The Boab Health Youth Counselling program provides individual counselling and family support for young people living in Kununurra. To be eligible for counselling the young person must be 11 to 18 years old, at risk of developing a mental health condition and be enrolled at a Kununurra school. Our youth counselling service utilises effective and appropriate youth specific modalities, a range of creative therapeutic engagement tools, as well as relevant group based options to compliment the individual based services.

Boab Health – Mental Health Team Offer

Boab Health provide mental health services including:

  • Adult mental Health Services (include the Community Support program and the Integrated Care Management program)
  • Child Mental Health service (Child Mental Health services provide individual counselling to children aged 0-12 years with their parents and/or carers. This service aims to help children and families address common mental health concerns such as: anxiety and depression, sleep problems, social and emotional issues, attachment difficulties, emotional and behavioural dysregulation, grief, loss and trauma)

The Child and Parent Centre (CPC) works to improve access to health and education for Fitzroy Valley families targeting children aged 0–8 years and their families. It is a welcoming, safe & dynamic space that delivers programs to meet the changing needs of vulnerable families.

Avon Community Services – Youth Services

ACS deliver two programs throughout the Wheatbelt that are aimed at young people who are At Risk. The programs focus on the education of young people about the Effects of Drugs, Alcohol & Tobacco, Social & Emotional Well-being, Sexual Education & Connection to Country & Community. ACS also offer a mentoring service for young people, delivered in a Case Management Model that offers low level support for young people needing some guidance. Avon Community Services deliver Housing Services throughout the Wheatbelt in both supported and unsupported accommodation. ACS also provide supported accommodation to young people aged 15 – 25.

Anglicare WA Albany – Child Sexual Abuse Therapy Service

The Child Sexual Abuse Therapy Service aims to reduce the harmful effects of sexual abuse on children and their future. The service assists children to manage trauma and educates them about social skills and strategies that enable them to be safe and establish non-abusive relationships.

Counselling is available for children and their non-offending family members. This includes:

  • Children up to the age of 18 who have suffered sexual abuse
  • Children up to the age of 18 who are exhibiting sexualised behaviours
  • Children up to the age of 18 who have committed sexual abuse against others
  • Non-offending siblings and carers who have been affected by the sexual abuse or behaviour of a child who has been referred to the service

Anglicare WA – Kutjungka Youth Social and Emotional Well Being and Crisis Prevention Service

The Kutjungka Youth Social and Emotional Well Being and Crisis Prevention Service provides counselling, psychosocial education and other community activities to enhance the wellbeing of young people.

Anglicare WA – Kimberley Sexual Abuse Prevention Support Service

The Kimberley Sexual Abuse Prevention and Support Service offers free counselling to child and adult victims of sexual abuse and assault. Counselling takes place in a safe environment, where victims are able to comfortably work through trauma with highly qualified counsellors.

Amity Health – Mental Health Counselling

Amity Health provides counselling to address emotional or behavioural challenges, anxiety, depression, stressful life events and any situation which may impact your mental well-being. Self-referrals are accepted or see your GP to discuss if a Mental Health Care Plan may be appropriate for you.

Albany Youth Support Association – Young House

Young House provides supported crisis accommodation for young people aged 15 to 25 years (with priority given to those under 20 years of age) who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Young House operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Youth workers work to:

  • Develop independent living skills
  • Connect with education and employment opportunities
  • Move towards a return home (where possible) or independent living
  • Residents of Young House benefit from intensive case management, as well as referrals to and liaison with other agencies.

Albany Youth Support Association – SHOT

The Supported Housing Outreach and Tenancy (SHOT) program is for young people from 15 to 25 years of age who need housing support. Staff provide outreach to those living in AYSA’s six transitional houses, provided through the Southern Community Housing Association. Young people can stay in these houses for up to two years. SHOT youth workers help them access and engage in education, employment and training opportunities, setting them on the path towards financial independence. Also provides support to those with young children to enhance parenting skills.
