The Salvation Army – Family and Domestic Violence

The Salvation Army provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We understand that experiencing family violence can be frightening and isolating. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.
 
The Salvation Army is committed to providing services that are inclusive to people of all genders, ages, people living with a disability, and those from LGBTIQ+ and CALD communities.

Yaandina Community Services – Karratha Youth Services

Karratha Youth Services provide outreach programs and individual case management to strengthen the roles of young people (aged 12-18 years) through the development of life skills and experience. KYS partners with other agencies to deliver activities and outcomes at a co-located youth space operated by the City of Karratha three evenings a week and during school holidays. 
Transport and meals/snacks are supplied to young people participating in the programs.

Yaandina Family Centre – Roebourne Youth Services

Roebourne Youth Services provides a safe, comfortable and fun drop in Centre where children and young people (aged 5-18 years) can relax and participate in a range of activities and programs. Over 300 children and young people participate each week in after school and school holiday programs. Activities include music, movies, craft, sport and recreation, life skills development, health and well-being programs. Healthy meals and snacks are provided.

Yaandina Community Services – Counselling Service

This service provides counselling and healing support to children, young people (aged 5 – 18 years) and their families primarily affected by childhood sexual abuse in Roebourne and surrounding areas. The service offers a range of artistic therapies and other forms of counselling to assist children, young people and their families to process traumatic experiences, resolve conflict, manage behaviour and develop healthy coping skills. Referrals are required and the service is confidential.

Victim Support Service

The Victim Support Service provides free, confidential counselling and support services for all victims of crime. These services are provided by professional counsellors and trained volunteers. Services available to victims of crime include:

  • Counselling and Support
  • Providing information and referrals to other support services
  • Helping victims write a victim impact statement
  • Preparing and supporting victims during a court case
  • Helping victims obtain information on the status of police investigations
  • Providing support when making an application for a restraining order
  • Providing information about criminal injuries compensation
  • Helping victims understand their rights within the criminal justice system
  • Providing information on the status of convicted offenders in WA, through the Victim Notification Register

The Base – Wickham

The Base is a dedicated youth space for 11-17 year olds. This facility offers youth access to table tennis, computers, gaming stations and a pool table free of charge!The Base also includes an undercover skate park. The skate park is public space and good behaviour is expected by all users. Using the skate park is at each user’s own risk, and the lights are on until 10:30pm. No smoking or consumption of alcohol is permitted on the premises.

PCYC – Roebourne

Roebourne PCYC exists so that children and young people at risk in the Roebourne area have a safe place to go – somewhere they can feel at home, make friends and do things that young people should do.
With 99% of the young people attending Roebourne PCYC coming from an indigenous background, the main focus of the Centre is to provide a safe place for local young people, away from domestic violence and types of abuse.

Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. They deliver services and support to young people aged 12–25.
Headspace Pilbara have Youth Wellbeing Workers based in Newman, Port Hedland and Karratha. They are here to answer any questions or concerns you have about your mental health, drug and alcohol issues, general health, sexual health and relationships.

Qlife

QLife provides Australia-wide anonymous, LGBTI peer support and referral for people wanting to talk about a range of issues including sexuality, identity, gender, bodies, feelings or relationships.

QLife services are free and include both telephone and webchat support, delivered by trained LGBTI community members across the country. Services are for LGBTI individuals, their friends and families, and health professionals in Australia.

1800RESPECT provide support and counselling for:
